The 2026 GNOSIS Conference will take place over 24 hours across 3 time-zones as an entirely virtual event. It will provide opportunities for sharing knowledge, raising awareness and making new connections to encourage collaboration in tackling the challenges of space sustainability.

Space is often labelled a “Global Commons”. By definition, it has no borders. Space brings benefits to every corner of the globe, but those benefits are being put at risk through congestion, debris, space weather and other challenges.
Where will the solutions come from that will enable those scientific and economic benefits from space to be maintained and increased – Vienna, Washington DC, Beijing, London, Riyadh, Sao Paulo, Capetown,…?
ALL space-faring nations have a role to play in developing solutions to keep space safe and sustainable. The Global Network on Sustainability in Space has always provided a platform for sharing knowledge across borders and disciplines – to foster collaboration and accelerate progress towards viable solutions for the sustainable use of space.
To facilitate even greater global participation in this critical mission, our next virtual conference – #GNOSIS26 – will be a truly global event. A 24 hour FREE virtual conference that will highlight shared global priorities and “follow the sun” to shine a light on regional perspectives.
Call for Expressions of Interest
We are pleased to announce the opening of our call for Expressions of Interest for prospective contributors.
We particularly want to encourage submissions addressing global collaboration: showcasing how industry, the research community and policymakers are working together to tackle the challenges of space sustainability; identifying barriers and exploring how they can be overcome.
We would also welcome perspectives on topics that are of particular importance at a regional level.
We want to hear from the community about the topics YOU would like us to prioritise for this unique event.
Some examples may include (but feel free to suggest others):
- Equitable access to space and how to deepen regional space sustainability policy and technology expertise?
- Regional/Global developments in Space Situational Awareness and Space Traffic Coordination – what’s working? What’s getting in the way?
- Constellation Networks and Astronomy in co-existence – How can the benefits of both be safeguarded?
- Space Weather impacts – Do we really understand them? Is more collaboration needed?
- Atmospheric impacts – What would it take to move from theoretical modelling to evidenced-based policy decisions?
- Design for Demise vs Design for De-orbit/re-use – Is a paradigm shift needed?
- Sustainable Innovation – How can disruptive new space businesses be supported to grow – without adverse environmental impacts?
- Frameworks, Standards and Guidelines – How are they evolving? How can they be made more effective?
- Sustainable exploration and development of Interplanetary Space – What are the knowledge gaps and how can we fill them?
Please note: One form per contribution. There is no institutional limit on the number of proposed contributions. Completion of this form does not guarantee inclusion in the GNOSIS26 programme.
This year's Conference will take place over 24 hours in 3 time-zones as an entirely virtual event. It will provide opportunities for sharing knowledge, raising awareness and making new connections to encourage collaboration in tackling the challenges of space sustainability.
